ANGEL TREE PROJECT
The Angel Tree Program is a prison ministry which involves adopting children whose parents are incarcerated, for the purpose of blessing them with gifts for Christmas on behalf of that parent. Angel Tree can bring a great blessing to us and to the prisoners’ families to whom we minister. Angel Tree is a wonderful way to express Christ’s love. It helps open hearts to receive the most important Gift, salvation and forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. Angel Tree is a great vehicle to introduce these families to our churches and enfold them into the body of Christ through continued ministry. Angel tree will honor our requests to match the same children with our churches each year that the child remains eligible.
Each year for the past 14 years, a church that is a member of the Macomb County Ministerial Alliance has volunteered to be the host church and volunteers from the other churches work with the host church to meet the needs of the people. Sept 11- 18, 2015 Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist, under the leadership of Pastor John Mack was the host church. During that week we served approximately 30 men. The goal of the Macomb Ministerial Alliance and the MCREST committee is to encourage participation from all the churches who are members of the Alliance giving them a sense of belonging and opportunity to provide support in any way they can. Perhaps their church is not big enough to house the homeless but maybe they can provide lunch for a day, bus cards or toiletries etc. We just want every church to know that any help they are able to provide is appreciated. After all this ministry is not about us, but about God getting the glory from using us. MCMA has decided to participate in MCREST program every other year to allow opportunities to help the community in other ways. This year we are working with the Angel Tree Prison Ministry.
The MLK Breakfast is a community event geared toward recognizing the great work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This event brings together the Macomb County community leaders from various cities and townships. We highlight some of the gifted young children and reward community leaders who are exemplary models of bringing together a strong diverse community. Our annual keynote speaker provides insight and clarity on where we are as a community and where we are going. You can join us next year February 18, 2018 and please feel free to contact us for more details. Contact Us
